Abaixo segue a chamada de trabalhos para a I Jornada de Doutorandos da ULEPICC-Brasil, a ser realizada no dia 20 de outubro de 2010, em Aracaju, durante o III Encontro da ULEPICC-Brasil. O doutorando que participar da Jornada pode, simultaneamente, apresentar outro trabalho no Encontro.

I Jornada de Doutorandos da ULEPICC-Brasil
CHAMADA DE  RESUMOS EXPANDIDOS 

* Período de inscrição: até 07/06/2010

* Público participante: podem participar todos os doutorandos em um Programa de Pós-Graduação do Brasil ou do exterior que, em seu projeto de tese, trabalhem temáticas relativas à Economia Política da Informação, da Comunicação e da Cultura.

* Normas para encaminhamento dos textos: os textos devem conter de 10 mil caracteres (com espaços) a 20 mil caracteres (com espaços), contendo um resumo do projeto de tese , envolvendo necessariamente os seguintes elementos, além de outros itens que pretenda incorporar: (a) problema de pesquisa; (b) objetivos; (c) metodologia. , (d) indicação de até 10 referências bibliográficas

Tais projetos deverão ser submetidos em português, em formato MS-Word (.doc), escritos em Times New Roman, corpo 12 e entrelinhas 1,5. O corpo do trabalho deverá ser precedido por um cabeçalho (corpo 10, entrelinhas simples) contendo os seguintes

OBS: Não será possível substituir o texto após a entrega, pois todo o material será encaminhado para os professores debatedores, para o coordenador da mesa onde o trabalho será apresentado e para os outros integrantes da mesa.

* Avaliação: os trabalhos inscritos serão avaliados conforme sua pertinência com a área da Economia Política da Comunicação, construção da problemática de pesquisa, definição dos objetivos e operacionalização metodológica. Aqueles que forem aceitos deverão ser apresentados no evento, em tempo de ser definido posteriormente, sendo informado previamente aos aceitos.

* Relator: todo trabalho apresentado terá um professor doutor como relator, que oralmente fará um comentário acerca do projeto apresentado.

* Inscrições: todos os inscritos no III Congresso da Ulepicc-Br estão automaticamente também inscritos, como participantes, na I Jornada de Doutorandos, não requerendo, portanto, pagamento adicional. Os expositores serão aqueles doutorando que tiverem seus trabalhos aceitos.

* Número de trabalhos: cada doutorando poderá inscrever somente um trabalho.

* Autoria: tratando-se de um projeto (resumido) de tese, os trabalhos somente poderão ter um autor, não se admitindo co-autorias, sob hipótese alguma.

Events like this are unparalleled opportunities. The 2010 Symposium is
especially notable because accepted students will get to work closely
with and get feedback on their work from Kevin Crowston, Cliff Lampe,
Nicolas Jullien and Andrea Forte, who are all renowned researchers in
this area. Additional scholars will be announced as they join the
committee.

I cannot stress enough how valuable are doctoral consortium experiences
are to define your dissertation work. If you are a PhD student, consider

The Doctoral Consortium of the ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries
Call for Participation
June 15 - 19, 2009 - Austin, TX

What is the Doctoral Consortium?

The Doctoral Consortium is a workshop for Ph.D. students from all over the
world who are in the early phases of their dissertation work (i.e., the
consortium is not intended for those who are finished or nearly finished
with their dissertation). The goal of the Doctoral Consortium is to help
students with their thesis and research plans by providing feedback and
general advice on using the research environment in a constructive and
international atmosphere. Students will present and discuss their thesis
in the context of a well-known and established international conference
outside of their usual university atmosphere. The workshop will take
place on a single full day. Up to 15 students will have the opportunity to
participate. Limited funding may be available to partially offset travel
and registration costs for those students with severe financial need.

Several prominent professors and experienced practitioners in the field
of digital library research in organizations from different countries
and continents will conduct the workshop. They will review all the
submissions and comment on the content of the thesis as well as on the
presentation. Students will have 20 minutes to present their research,
focusing on the main theme of their thesis, what they have achieved
so far and how they plan to continue their work. Another 20 minutes
is reserved for discussion and feedback from both the professors and
other participants. In the course of the workshop students will also get
advice on more general questions, e.g. the differences of Ph.D. studies
in different countries.

Call for Papers and Topics

Students interested in participating in the Doctoral Consortium should
submit an extended abstract (see details below) describing their
Digital Library research. Submissions relating to any aspect of Digital
Library research, development, and evaluation are welcomed, including:
technical advances, usage and impact studies, policy analyses, social
and institutional implications, theoretical contributions, interaction
and design advances, and innovative in the sciences, humanities,
and education.

To apply for participation at the Doctoral Consortium, please
provide an extended abstract of your doctoral work and upload it at
www.jcdl2009.org. The extended abstract is restricted to 4000 words
(approx. 8 pages). Submissions should be submitted electronically in
pdf format. The abstracts should

* Clearly formulate the research question,

* Identify the significant problems in the field of research,

* Summarize the current knowledge of the problem domain, as well
as the state of the art for solutions,

* Clearly present any preliminary research plans and ideas, and
the results achieved so far,

* Sketch the research methodology that is to be applied,

* Describe the expected contributions of the applicant to the
research area, and

* (For technical research) describes how the research is innovative,
novel or extends existing approaches to a problem.

Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, correctness,
and clarity. Workshop participation is limited to 15 Ph.D. students.

Proceedings

Accepted abstracts will be distributed to participants as the workshop
proceedings and made available to participants via the JCDL Doctoral
Consortium digitally. Participants will be invited to include their
abstracts in a special issue of the TCDL Bulletin, the publication of
the IEEE-CS Technical Committee on Digital Libraries.
